March Moon

The March full moon, Luna rises through the  still bare branches, but the winds toss the clouds around and Ladymoon shimmers and glows softly through them.  How beautiful  she looks for a moon called  by  unglamourous names like Mud moon, Worm moon, Strong Winds Moon, Famine Moon, Snowblind Moon, Plow Moon and  one of my favorites Old Moccasin Moon.

The Maple Moon, and the Sap Moon,  when great clouds of stream rise from the Sugaring shack, and the aroma of maple syrup hangs in the air.  The Bud Moon, Returning Geese Moon, Songbird Moon, the Lenten Moon all remind us the even thought the ground is covered with snow more often than not, it will not be that way for long.

If I had to, I couldn't pick a better name for this moon that Seed Moon, not just because of all the little birds scurrying around in the dirty snow looking for seeds, but because Seed moon speaks to me about the warmth, flowers, and gardening to come.
